Default Publishing issue in Serna Free 4.2.0-20091009 - 11-08-2009, 03:51 PM

I'm having trouble selecting any other output format than HTML from the Publish dialog. I just installed Serna Free 4.2.0-20091009 into Ubuntu 9.1 using the Ubuntu repository location given in Serna Blog, opened the DITA OT example, and tried to select something other than HMTL as the output format. Can you direct me to documentation explaining how to configure Serna such that additional output formats can be selected from the Publish dialog?

Hello,

since Serna OSS has migrated recently to the new publishing system, not everything works or works well. Publishing to PDF is the issue of the new system: it has not been implemented fully yet; hope it is fixed in the new version.

Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. After a bit of reading in the on-line help I realized I needed to also install FOP. After installing FOP from the Ubuntu repository I now see a "PDF (FOP)" selection available from the Output Type menu selection.

Although I've been able to install FOP and have Serna Free offer PDF as a publishing option I have been having issues with the generated output. Specifically, the image width attribute does not seem to be honored. Regardless of what value I set for the width attribute of an image the image in the PDF is always the same size. Is there something else that needs to be configured in order for this to work correctly?

Try the to changing the DPI resolution setting of the image.
Apache FOP has as default 72 dpi but for screenshoots its 96 or higher.

(i.e. when saving in GIMP you may set the dpi, also resizing in photoshop has dpi settings)

After the dpi is fine, you may also use the scale setting which has always inmediate effect.
