Default Cannot get Serna to run, "No such file or directory" on run, build fails on Python - 12-12-2009, 04:23 PM

Hello,

I decided to give Serna a try, I use Arch Linux, so I installed it from Serna Free 4.2 (tgz) into /usr/local. I did:
Code:
# ./install.sh
Enter installation prefix [/opt]: /usr/local
Installing Serna to: /usr/local/serna-free-4.2
Installation is finished. Run Serna as: /usr/local/bin/serna-free-4.2
but when I do
Code:
# /usr/local/bin/serna-free-4.2
I get
Code:
/usr/local/bin/serna-free-4.2: line 37: /usr/local/serna-free-4.2/bin/serna.bin: No such file or directory
/usr/local/bin/serna-free-4.2: line 37: /usr/local/serna-free-4.2/bin/serna.bin: Success
I changed owner of whole directory to my user, but no effect. The file serna.bin is on place and have 8069784 bytes, it's executable. Running the serna.bin gives:
Code:
bash: ./serna.bin: No such file or directory
How can I solve this issue? I have freetype 2.3.11, glibc 2.11 and XOrg 7.5 (can the reason be the XFree86-libs?) I already tried to build from source, had to change in defaults.pro gmake into make, but still even python did not built, failing with:
Code:
Failed to find the necessary bits to build these modules:
_bsddb bsddb185 dl
imageop sunaudiodev
To find the necessary bits, look in setup.py in detect_modules() for the module's name.

Failed to build these modules:
dbm
Thanks in advance for any help - there are only 2 good editors that have good docbook wysiwyg support and only one that have open source version, so I would really like to make it running - in binary form or built from source...
Andrzej.

I found out, that it runs in chroot with 32 bit environment, pure 64 bit env must be the reason for all the troubles

If anyone is interested, I got it working on 64 bits by installing 32 bit versions of:
  • gcc-libs
  • libxinerama
  • libxft
  • libxmu
with dependencies (21 libs total). I made community package for Arch Linux out of it if anyone would like to try it on that OS, getting it all work on that system is now as simple as "yaourt -S serna".

PS.: any chance of native 64 bit version?

I hope yes. There is already 64bit version of Serna for Debian: Debian -- Serna64
As soon as this build of Serna is spread through the Debian community I think there will be more chances to get stable-like serna 64b.

It would be lot easier to make a package built from source so probably working natively on 64 bits, if system installed dependencies could be used or if they were in svn at least. Any update on this?

I'd be happy to make serna use my Qt, Python or Java that I have installed on machine, this is largest feature request one might want, but I'm sure it would pay off in a lot more contributors to code (for example, you could count me in)
